United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
To provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
UN Environment has worked on the environmental causes and implications of forced displacement for many years. The ultimate aim of UN Environment’s work is to support good environmental management around the world at all scales to build resilience in vulnerable areas, to reduce environmental threats to health and ecosystems and to enable sustainable development for current and future generations. UN Environment supports countries for example with ecosystems based disaster risk reduction. Through partnerships with other agencies UN Environment will contribute to the work of PDD by assessing and addressing links between climate change and displacement.
