Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, University of New South Wales
The Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at UNSW Sydney was established in 2013 with a mission to generate cutting-edge research to support the development of legal, sustainable and humane solutions for displaced people. It is the world’s first and only research centre dedicated to the study of international refugee law.
The Kaldor Centre’s expertise lies in high-quality, rigorous academic research and analysis of issues pertaining to the scope of international law to address displacement in the context of climate change and disasters. Centre Director, Professor McAdam, has written extensively on the above, and also has particular expertise on cross-border relocations, including their use historically. Centre member Tamara Wood has expertise on the role of African refugee law to address climate change/disaster-related displacement, while Centre member Luke Potter has expertise on the role of local government authorities to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of disaster-related displacement, especially in the Pacific.
