SEI’s vision is a sustainable future for all. Its mission is “to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development”.
SEI has in-house expertise in gender, migration, environment and development research and capacity development in Asia and the Pacific Islands. Its staff has conducted research on gender and social dimensions of disaster- and climate change-related displacements and mobility in the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. SEI staff collaborated on a book, Living with Floods in a Mobile Southeast Asia, published by Earthscan, Taylor & Francis, 2017. SEI-Asia Centre has an International Center of Excellence on Disaster Risk.
