The Warsaw International Mechanism (WIM), established in 2013, has been serving as the main catalyser under the UNFCCC process for enhancing knowledge, coherence, action and support to avert, minimize and address loss and damage associated with climate change impacts in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

The WIM Executive Committee has established five thematic expert groups for each of its workstreams: Expert Group on Slow Onset Events; Expert Group on Non-economic Losses; Technical Expert Group on Comprehensive Risk Management; Task Force on Displacement; Expert Group on Action and Support. All five thematic expert groups are now fully operational and well positioned to contribute their wealth of expertise and resources to advance progress on averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage in a comprehensive and integrated manner. The PDD actively participates in these processes as a member of the Task Force on Displacement.

The aim of this booklet is to provide a platform to introduce and showcase the expertise mobilized by the ExCom to a wide range of audiences, by collating the expert profiles of all members of the ExCom and its five thematic expert groups. By doing so, it aims to highlight the wealth of knowledge and expertise catalyzed by the ExCom of the Warsaw International Mechanism to respond to the complex challenge of loss and damage.
