The PDD is a State-led multistakeholder platform that utilizes strategic engagement as a key working principle. The Platform engages with existing coordination mechanisms and have developed strong partnerships between States (policymakers and practitioners), international organizations, civil society representatives and researchers, in order to work towards collective outcomes. Creating strong partnerships among a wide range of stakeholders is key to developing a holistic approach to addressing disaster displacement. A strong network enhances access to knowledge and research, optimizes resources, and, ultimately, increases effectiveness by drawing on the strengths of diverse stakeholders.
Together, the Platform works with policymakers to develop well-grounded, contextually relevant, and implementable solutions. The PDD aims to create stronger engagement with civil society to make sure that voices of affected persons are heard and their protection needs understood as much as research from the academic community and fed into policy making and implementation in national and local contexts.
The PDD organizes a range of opportunities for its partners to come together, providing opportunities to co-organize and join webinars, meetings, workshops, and join forces in drafting and disseminating advocacy messaging at international conferences.
The PDD Workplan provides an idea of how our partners work together to achieve the Platform’s objectives. The PDD also provides opportunities for Advisory Committee members to come together to share lessons and experiences from different regions and areas of work. For example, at the PDD’s 2023 Advisory Committee meeting, AC members took stock on implementation, progress and lessons learned during the Platform’s 2019 – 2023 strategic framework and discussed the strategic orientation and priorities of the PDD as it entered its new strategic period 2024-2030.
