Hybrid Event | Climate Change, Disasters and Displacement: Time for a Comprehensive Approach
Hybrid Event –
Climate Change, Disasters and Displacement: Time for a Comprehensive Approach
Parallel Session 2 – European Humanitarian Forum
21 March 2022
The European Humanitarian Forum will take place in Brussels from Monday 21 to Wednesday 23 March 2022, in a hybrid format, with most of the events allowing for remote participation and engagement. It is organised by the European Commission and France in the framework of its Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The European Humanitarian Forum will gather policy makers, humanitarian partners and other stakeholders, for a more sustained dialogue on humanitarian policy and strategy.
The Forum will offer a Team Europe perspective on humanitarian challenges and identify solutions and actions to address the unprecedented level of needs and constraints faced by humanitarian operators and beneficiaries. It will serve as an inclusive platform for strategic and open debates between the EU’s political decision-makers and the wider international humanitarian community.
In this context, a session on 21 March 2022 from 13:45-15:30 will focus on the EU’s approach to displacement in relation to disasters and climate change. It will build on the March 2021 Communication on the EU’s Humanitarian Action and explain how humanitarian action, along with development aid and disaster risk reduction, can better address the issue in a comprehensive manner.
It will bring together the EU and partners to discuss how to strengthen the response before, during and after displacement occurs.
